All of our 23 Ngā Haerenga Great Rides are at various stages of their accessibility journeys and it's constantly evolving.

Leading the way with accessibility are the West Coast Wilderness Trail, Rotorua's Whakarewarewa Forest Loop and the Motu Trails.

The West Coast Wilderness Trail is a stunning ride along coastal and former gold mining areas, heading inland to forest, lakes and rivers with the lush West Coast bush of the Southern Alps ever present.

Best of all, it's Grade 2 easy in most places with some Grade 3 on-road sections and with careful planning and in consultation with its accessibility guide, the trail can be enjoyed by adaptive riders.

The Whakarewarewa loop is a 33km one-way route around the forest, created around iconic features that Rotorua mountain biking is renowned for. The loop is a grade 2-3 track designed to be accessible for people of almost all ages, abilities and fitness levels.

The Motu Trails, which roll along Pacific Coast dunes and into valleys and mountains in the Bay of Plenty region, has an accessibility guide too. It is full of information for adaptive riders.

For the most up-to-date accessibility information visit each trail's website. We've also provided a list of contact details for trail managers on all 23 Ngā Haerenga Great Rides of New Zealand.
